Brauerei zur Sonne
The Schuhmann family has owned the brewery since 1856 - and it will probably remain that way for many years to come. In the meantime, the two sons of senior boss Dieter Schuhmann have followed in their father's footsteps and look after the needs of the estate. While Christian Schuhmann is responsible for brewing the beer, Peter Schuhmann stands in the kitchen, which was renovated in 2005, and prepares Franconian specialties such as hearty beer brewer's schnitzel or the ever-popular brewer's pan with dark beer sauce. On Sundays there is also a rich lunch menu with Schäufela, goose breast and seasonal dishes. In 2005, the brewery also received a new signboard: a handcrafted, wrought-iron brewery boom has since drawn the attention of both locals and tourists passing through Bischberg to the inn. And those who have found their way to the Schuhmanns can also spend the night there: A total of 18 guest rooms are available to visitors, five of which were newly added as recently as 2008. In 2000, the brewery was also modernized with the construction of a new fermentation and storage cellar. Since then, Sonnenpils, Helles Premium Lager, Zunft Trunk Dunkel, seasonal Bockbier and unfiltered Weizen have been stored there. The beer is sold in bottles or in party kegs. Visitors interested in how the beer is made are welcome to ask Dieter Schuhmann to give them a tour of the brewery. In the end, guests can enjoy the barley juice in the guest room (50 seats) or in the Fischerstube (30 seats). For weddings and birthdays, a hall for 80 people is available.
