A true Bamberg original that every beer lover should know. Since 1895, beer has been brewed at Mahrs Bräu by the Michel family - currently in the 4th generation. Not only with traditional brewing skills and state-of-the-art technology. But also with respect for nature, sustainability and appreciation for the homeland. Therefore, only selected raw materials and ingredients from neutrally controlled cultivation are used in the beer. For example, from the Franconian Jura or other Bavarian growing regions. The brewery sources the malt from Bamberg malting plants or the Steinach malting plant in Zirndorf. They are the basis for the unique taste of the total of nine Franconian beer varieties that the family business has on offer. All of them are genuine beer specialties with excellent quality that has spread far beyond the borders of Franconia. And, among other things, the award of the Mahrs Bräu Helles at the World Beer Award 2018 in the category Country Winner "Helles/Münchner" proves.
A good beer, a decent snack and a nice place to feel good. This is the mission of the traditional brewery. And so it is only logical that the brewery also has a pub.
That the brewery looks back on a long tradition is not only evident from the old brewery building. In the pub, too, everything still feels like it did in the old days. Modernization has been carried out here - if at all - with caution and tact. After all, "the old" should be preserved for future generations. Low ceilings, a tiled stove, wood paneling on the walls, narrow beer tables and benches, dim lighting. It's just plain cozy in the Gaststube. And to order beer it brews only two letters. AU - and there you have it, freshly tapped from the wooden barrel, a naturally cloudy, unfiltered beer. Wonderful.
By the way, the dishes in the brewery pub also taste wonderful. Whether hearty snacks, Franconian roast or new light vegetarian cuisine. As passionately as beer is brewed at Michels, so is the cooking in the kitchen. Simply delicious. By the way: If you just want to drink a beer, you should join the "Stehgammler" in the "Schwemm" (i.e. in the hallway in front of the restaurant). The only standing regulars' table in the world. Here, old-established Wunderburgers meet daily, discuss important and unimportant things in life and end the day with a Seidla.
From the novels of cultural author Tommy Jaud. The beer against a guilty conscience that pops and tastes good. So says the website, and of course we tested the eight small bottles. The pale, Franconian-Californian stout with select hops from the Hallertau region and American Amarillo really packs a punch and: was brewed by Mahrs Bräu. Unfortunately, the Brummelbock has been drunk up forever. Too bad, because it just tasted wonderful.
