HolladieBierfee - that's not just the name of the spelt Pale Ale that the brewmasters of Hof-based Meinel Bräu, Gisela and Monika Meinel-Hansen, together with their colleagues Isabella Straub from the Drei Kronen brewery inn in Memmelsdorf and Yvonne Wernlein from the Haberstumpf brewery in Trebgast, developed especially for women in 2012. HolladieBierfee we say at this point as a sign of our admiration and appreciation for the last remaining private brewery in Hof. Two young female brewmasters currently hold the reins here. With a great deal of passion and new creative ideas, the two siblings Gisela and Monika are the 13th generation to run the Hof family business, where the highest-quality beer specialties have been brewed since 1731. The fact that two women from the trade are at the helm of a large brewery is rather unusual in the German brewing scene. In Hof, at the northeastern tip of Upper Franconia, no one is surprised. After all, a generation earlier, mother Gisela Helene Meinel-Hansen was the first woman to run the traditional Upper Franconian brewery together with her husband.
Typical Franconian beers in top quality
The right beer for every occasion. At Meinel in Hof, they brew typical Franconian beer specialties, in excellent quality. Here, craftsmanship meets innovation. Tradition meets modernity. Experience meets creative novelty. The beers are produced with local raw materials from controlled cultivation in the region (for which Meinel Bräu received the "Quality from Bavaria" seal of approval from the Association of Medium-Sized Breweries in 1999) - and with the help of the four senses. This is the only way to brew a diverse beer. The younger generation is also convinced of this. The product range currently includes 19 different varieties. In addition, there are beer mixes, lemonades, juices, spritzers and spirits. Many of them have creative names, beautiful descriptions and modern labels - all of which whet the appetite for enjoyment. You simply have to try them.
Beer Salon "Trompeter
An absolute must for every Meinel beer fan. In the cozy beer pub run by the family business itself, you can not only enjoy the entire Meinel range to your heart's content. Here you can also learn first-hand what true Meinel fans should know about beer types, ingredients, production and taste. The team also has a changing range of national & international bottled beers in its assortment. Just ask the waitress. And if you're already there, we recommend taking part in one of the wonderful beer events that regularly take place there. By the way, we from hier-gibt's-bier.de have completed our advanced training as beer experts in the "Trompeter". We just have to announce that here, because the event was mercilessly good and we will remember it forever.
If you pay a visit to the third largest city in Upper Franconia - you should also stop by "Meinels Bas" in Vorstadt 13 and treat yourself to some downtime. "Meinels Bas" is one of the oldest taverns in Hof, named after Kunigunde Barbara Meinel. In 1861, she had the parent house of Meinel Bräu converted from a tavern into a dining restaurant. Today the inn is leased and attracts many guests in the summer with one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the region. Lots of greenery, lots of lawn, lots of trees and in the immediate vicinity of the Saxon Saale - it's a great place to spend some time. According to old beer garden tradition, you can either bring your own food and get the beer at the bar. Alternatively, there is also a rich menu - filled with Franconian snacks, Schäufele, Braumeistersalat, Krenfleisch and much more. Even breakfast in the beer garden is possible.
